Many of you wake up to yet another headache, back or leg pain or a painful mind. But don’t give up yet.

Every morning I wake up with spasms in my back, stinging pain in my leg and before I stand up I have to slow myself down, because I can’t feel the floor underneath my feet. I slowly go in to my kitchen, make myself the so relaxing cup of coffee, sit and think- “28 year old with physical pain of a 90 year old. Great!”. As the morning becomes the afternoon, I start to feel me, you know why?- Because I try and pretend I have amnesia when facing those full of poison thoughts. I put some make up on, dress up, hold my head high and carry on with my day. Yes, I may be limited to what I can physically do during the day, but once again I kick those thoughts in the back side.

Overload Yourself with Positivity

It may sound ridiculous and difficult to achieve, when you are suffering from physical or emotional pain. But don’t give up just yet. Positive thoughts and emotions can actually counteract bad feelings.

When you are feeling nothing else but negativity, you provide a perfect environment for pain to breed. The weaker or more negative your mind is, the more you concentrate on whatever is ailing you. Try to overload yourself with positive thoughts, think about something you are looking forward to, concentrate on your plans and if you don’t have plans, make a plan to do something to change someone’s life. Personally, when I help others I tend to forget about my own pain and problems.

Practice Mindful Meditation

Meditation is the art of sitting still and letting your mind run away in to the beautiful fields, where thinking is not allowed. Practicing meditation is very useful, because when struck with any kind of pain (physical or emotional), you will be able to keep your brain calm and non-responsive.

Don’t push Yourself too Hard

If there are certain things you can’t do physically, don’t do it, because that will make your brain concentrate on the pain. Avoid activities which involve your inability to do it. This will help you avoid disappointment.

I used to push myself in to doing things I wasn’t able to do and that would make me end up feeling low and in more pain than I was in to start of with.

Emotional pain– don’t push yourself to go or do something which will take you out of your comfort zone. Try to avoid emotional pressure. Do it step by step and don’t expect too much from yourself. Don’t feel like you have to do things, because people around you are doing it. You are you and you will accomplish things in your own time.

Relax

Include everyday relaxation in to your everyday life. When you have had a busy day, don’t sit there watching TV and feeling sorry for yourself. Have a relaxing bath, put some good music or funny videos on and let that tension leave your day.

Read, write, meditate, do a light exercise and try to forget all the worries.

There will be days when you don’t want to leave your house or not want to do anything. Allow yourself to do so once in a while in order to take care of yourself. It’s okay sometimes to not be okay.
